The small polyester component adds durability without changing the hand-feel meaningfully. This is a cotton fabric styled to read like denim; the fiber composition is not denim.
Construction Details

Vertical pintuck seams run down the front chest panel, adding structure to an otherwise relaxed silhouette (image-inferred). The body cuts to an A-line through the torso and hits at shorts length.
